So Mike, What is RuneScape?

It is an online game where you create a player and adventure through a whole bunch of cities and towns.

How did you discover RuneScape?

 Some of my friends at school play it. So this summer I bought a book on it to read during a long drive. I started playing it when I got home from vacation.

What is the main point of RuneScape?

To complete as many quests as you can and get your skills as high as you can.

What’s a quest?

Well a quest is when someone in the game asks you to do something for them.

What’s the easiest quest you have done so far?

Probably Cook’s assistant.

What is Cook’s Assistant?

To begin the quest you have to talk to the cook in Lumbridge Castle, the cook needs to bake a cake for the Duke’s birthday and he will ask you to get the ingredients.

How do you get your skills up?

You practice fishing, cooking, attacking, crafting, mining and so on.

Why are skills so important?

Skills are important because if you don’t practice your skills you won’t get your overall level high enough. And you will be very bored because there is not a lot you can do without practicing your skills.

And as my last question I want to know your Favourite part of RuneScape.

Probably doing quests.

THE DISCOVERIES OF PAIGE AND MIKE.

This year we learned three different types of dance – Ballet, Contemporary and Bollywood (Indian dancing). For Ballet there were two teachers, Sylvia Logan (Rothesay Ballet school) and Rachelle Lanigan (instructor, Rothesay Ballet School). For Contemporary dancing we had a guest  instructor, Michael Leon Thomas (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.) And for Bollywood we had another guest instructor Simone Fernandes (born in India, studied many different types of dance.) Also Theresa Ruth Howard (currently on Faculty at the Ailey School.) was there to do some modern dance workshops.

All of the kids who attended camp were divided into three levels, Junior, Intermediate and Senior. I was in intermediate.  Not all of our classes were at the Imperial Theatre,  most were at a gym in a church just down the street from the Imperial Theatre. I think that the classes that were actually at the Imperial Theatre were really cool, because we got to dance right on the stage! Also most of the rehearsal times were on the stage.

I had a lot of good experiences at this camp, for each different type of dance our instructors created at least one piece. We did three ballet pieces which were the easiest for me because I am in ballet already. One Bollywood piece, which I found the hardest, and one contemporary which was one of my favourites! At the end of the camp we performed them for our family and friends. I think it was really interesting to learn some different types of dance, since I only do ballet and jazz at my dance school in Fredericton, NB.

I’m also going to a Nutcracker camp for the last week of August. This dance camp will be at Dance Fredericton (my dance school) so it will be more familiar. I’m looking forward to learning about the Nutcracker ballet.

This is a Wordle. It is a fun tool used to create word clouds. For this word cloud I input a chapter from The Hobbit. When you create a Wordle you may change the colour, font and layout of the word cloud. I think Wordle is an awesome tool. I tried a few different pieces of writing before this one, such as a poem I wrote about a snowman. If you put in whole chapters or even books like I did the more commonly used words will be bigger. In the word cloud above you can tell that the word said was used a lot because it is really big.

My biggest building project I have ever done was a huge Mega Bloks castle, it took me about two days to build and it had 485 pieces! I think this was the coolest project I have done.

I hope I get a Lego Mindstorm for my birthday, they sound really cool.

The trail is good for walking, going uphill most of the time. The trail splits into two parts-one leading to the the top of the falls and one to the bottom. The trail is 1.7 km long and the falls drops 20 metres down. (Information on some good NB waterfalls can be found at www.waterfallsnewbrunswick.ca)

When we went to Hays Falls it was fairly cloudy but when we were coming back from the falls it started to thundershower and we took shelter under the leaves for a bit.

We also stopped at a picnic table and ate some strawberries, chocolate and water.

The thing that bothered me was that there was garbage littering some parts of the trail, but other than that it was a fun trip!
